Leeds Met and BPP have exchanged correspondence in recent months regarding the ownership of the trademark 'Leeds Law School', which the university registered in 2001. Leeds Met is believed to have been disgruntled after BPP referred to itself as 'Leeds Law School' on its website and in a poster.
BPP Law School chief executive Peter Crisp said any confusion caused by the use of the phrase was done completely inadvertently and that the matter had been resolved amicably. He also admitted that there were a few red faces at BPP, particularly because it had recently launched an IP centre of excellence in Leeds.
