Leeds Met appoints new head of law school

He joins the university’s business and law faculty from the education and training unit at the SRA.

Macdonald says: “I am very happy to be joining Leeds Met at such an exciting time in the development of both the university and legal education and training generally. I believe that our students have the capacity to become the leaders of the legal profession of the future and that we will provide them with the skills and inspiration to make that vision a reality.”

Macdonald began his career as a barrister specialising in criminal defence and prosecution. In 2003 he joined the teaching team on the Bar Vocational Course (BVC) with BPP Law School, before becoming national director of BVC programmes.

He went on to become dean of the law school at Dublin’s King’s Inns before being appointed assistant chief examiner for professional ethics on the BPTC by the Bar Standards Board.

Earlier this month Lord Philips was appointed as a visiting professor to the Dickson Poon School of Law at Kings’s College London. (7 November 2012)
