LeBoeuf raids SJ Berwin Paris for tax push

SJ BERWIN has lost one of the founding partners of its Paris operation to US firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae.

Jean Goncalves, a corporate tax partner advising on investment funds and private equity transactions, joined SJ Berwin in 2001 for the launch of the firm’s Paris office.

The hire follows hot on the heels of another addition to the LeBoeuf Lamb Paris operation - Jean-Claude Petilon's African-focused projects team which joined from Coudert Brothers’ French operation in January 2006.

LeBoeuf Lamb chairman Steven Davis said: "This recruitment is a further important step in the execution of our ambitious programme for the development of the firm's Paris office."

Prior to joining SJ Berwin, Goncalves was European tax director for GE Healthcare, a division of General Electric.

SJ Berwin did not immediately return calls for comment.
