Employment law alliance L&E Global has expanded into Poland and Canada with the addition of two local firms.
A. Sobczyk & Wspólpracownicy, a four-partner boutique based in Krakow, has joined the alliance along with Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti in Toronto.
“Expanding to Eastern Europe is a logical step as it’s a region that’s becoming more and more important for our clients,” said Stephan Swinkels, executive director of L&E Global.
Arkadiusz Sobczyk, founding partner of A. Sobczyk & Wspólpracownicy, said: “Through L&E, we’re able to offer our clients in-depth knowledge of cultural and jurisdictional issues in all of the major markets.”
Roy Filion, senior partner at Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti, said L&E Global’s alliance partners are a “perfect fit” with his firm.
One of the firm’s founding partners, Warren Winkler, became an Ontario Superior Court Judge in 1993 and was appointed as Chief Justice of Ontario in 2007.
The addition of Poland and Canada brings L&E Global’s membership to 10 firms.
The news comes as the network announced its expansion into Asia Pacific with the addition of New Zealand firm Swarbrick Beck Mackinnon to its group (23 August 2011).
Member firms also include Jackson Lewis (US), Flichy Grangé Avocats (France), LABLAW (Italy), Palthe Oberman (the Netherlands), Pusch Wahlig Legal (Germany), Bufete Suárez de Vivero (Spain) and Van Olmen Wynant (Belgium).
