However, Breslin's hire as a partner comes just weeks after Lawrence Graham announced that it would not be making any internal partner promotions this financial year.
The unusual move had been explained as a demographic quirk, as the firm's strict rule of only considering seven year-qualified assistants meant no one was in the frame for promotion this year.
Head of insurance and reinsurance Nick Bradley said it was a young team comprised of many lawyers with less than seven years' post-qualification experience. As such, it had looked externally for a lateral hire who would add to the group's expertise.
