The Law Society has expanded it secretariat with the appointment of a new director of Law Society services and a communications director.
Anne Godfrey, the former commercial director at the Confederation of British Industry, will be taking up the role of director of Law Society services. Stephen Ward, currently the interim head of corporate affairs at the society, will begin as communications director on 1 June.
Des Hudson, Law Society chief executive, said the new roles will be key elements of the restructuring of the representative Law Society.
According to Hudson, Godfrey and Ward will be central to a "sharper focus on supporting solicitors following the delegation of the society's regulatory responsibilities to the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Legal Complaints Service".
Hudson concluded: "These appointments will go a long way to making the changes the society needs to ensure our resources are used to the maximum to support solicitors. Anne and Stephen will direct the tremendous resources that exist within the Law Society's talented pool of staff."
