Law Society of Scotland gets new president

Brown & McRae partner John MacKinnon has taken over as president of the Law Society of Scotland. President Ruthven Gemmell, a partner at Murray Beith Murray, handed the leadership to MacKinnon, the former vice–president of the society, on 28 May.

President Ruthven Gemmell, a partner at Murray Beith Murray, handed the leadership to MacKinnon, the former vice–president of the society, on 28 May. Richard Henderson, formerly the solicitor to the Scottish Executive, replaces MacKinnon. MacKinnonsaid: “If the past year was dominated by the demands of responding to the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act, then the next 12 months will focus on implementation of the enacted legislation.”
