Law Society hindered by Data Protection

As elections are this Wednesday (20 March), the Law Society is concerned that not enough candidates will come forward in time.
Law Society chief executive Janet Paraskeva said: "We're doing our best to make sure enough people come forward, but we cannot use the names on our database. However, the societies of Black and Asian lawyers are helping enormously by allowing us to use their mailing lists."
The wife of criticised MP Keith Vaz, Maria Fernandez, currently holds the one council seat for ethnic minority lawyers. She is expected to continue in her post alongside the new council member to come from an ethnic minority.
