The Law Society has the strongest brand in the legal market while Eversheds has the strongest law firm brand, according to research published by branding organisation Superbrands.
The Law Society is listed in 75th place on the Business Superbrands list, which ranks the UK’s top 500 businesses according to how strong their brands are considered to be.
Eversheds, which ranked 263rd on the list in 2007, ranks 214th on this year’s list and sits above all four magic circle firms.
That said, magic circle firm Clifford Chance has also climbed up the rankings to number 225, compared to its position of 240 in 2007. Linklaters was rated 238th, while Freshfelds Bruckhaus Deringer stood at number 282 and Allen & Overy at 323.
Slaughter and May was ranked 286th.
The Lawyer was also included on the list and ranked at number 398, ahead of Lovells (435) and Simmons & Simmons (477).
Superbrands compiles the annual list by initially carrying out independent research and receiving public nominations. The final list is drawn up by combining the views of the marketing professionals who make up the Superbrands expert council with those from over 1,700 individual business professionals from across the UK.
The top 10 legal brands in the Business Superbrands list:

The Law Society? Eversheds? CC? This must, surely, be a joke.

Maybe there's a reputable garden shed company with a similar name that's become confused with Evershoddy?

It's weird to think anyone wasted their time compiling this list. Eversheds has a very famous brand alright. It is a brand well known for treating its employees poorly. As for The Law Society, the most significant impact they have had is to advise people via adverts in poor inner city areas to seek proper legal advice despite the fact no one can afford it. Both top brands for sure, I bet the likes of A&O really want to up their game now.

I agree - The Lawyer is in there at number 8. What a farce.

Looking at the first sentence of the last paragraph I wonder if Eversheds simply decided to nominate itself more than it did last year ?

This is one in the face for all those idiots sniping at us last year in relation to the redundancies and in the last few weeks about the tough real world of how we choose our lawyers (i.e. winners).
This award shows what a joke it was the we won a certain other orange site's survey losers award - when serious people judge us rather than bitter whingers then we are now right at the top. I'm sick of hearing the press and bitter staff (who should find other jobs if they hate it that much, because we don't need them) doing us down. The Magic Circle better watch out, because we are on the way UP! And on our way UP we are going to take a lot of other firms (and lawyers) DOWN!

For the over competitive lawyer above - you are such an embarrassment! That is unless you are joking, and that your are making an ironic statement at the expense of Eversheds?

Good to see Eversheds doing so well in such a prestigious table but how tiresome to see poor journalistic spin from the Lawyer and the predictable bashing comments from the detractors below.

What a farce!!
Perhaps the preceding contributors have missed the point. Why is the Law Society mis-spending my money on obtaining brand awards when it can bearly represent me?
Outraged from Hertfordshire!!!!!

This is a survey of consumer brands. Last time I checked, major law firms weren't servicing consumers, rather large corporates, public sector bodies and governments. It's irrelevant!
