RPC has made a further addition to its corporate practice with the hire of SJ Berwin partner Anthony Shatz.
Shatz will join RPC in early May as a partner in its City corporate team following five years as a partner at SJ Berwin, where he was made up in 2008.
He started at SJ Berwin as a trainee after previously working as a barrister and now focuses on corporate deals, focusing on the real estate sector, with clients in the past including AXA, British Land, Delancey and Westfield Shoppingtowns.
Shatz declined to comment on whether he was set to bring any clients or associates to RPC.
The news brings the number of partners in the RPC’s corporate team to 13 and follows the hire of three partners from Wragge & Co in December (6 December 2012).
It also hired Lockton International general counsel Charlotte Taggart into its corporate insurance practice as a partner last year (12 November 2012).
The firm also said its corporate team had grown its revenues by 20 per cent in 2011/12 and expects similar growth this year.
RPC managing partner Jonathan Watmough said in a statement: “We are growing our corporate team rapidly in response to high demand from clients. Anthony is perfect for us as he completes the link between our corporate transactional work and our real estate team, which has a fantastic roster of clients.
“His background also means that RPC now has a heavyweight group of partners with experience of advising real estate, private equity and other funds.”
Shatz added: “RPC’s reputation in the market for corporate work has been going from strength to strength recently, and I’m looking forward to adding to its recent successes, and helping to strengthen and consolidate its growing reputation.”
