Spanish gambling watchdog to legalise betting exchanges and online slots

The Spanish gambling watchdog (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, or DGOJ) announced in a press release last Friday that it will authorise betting exchanges and online slots, following the lead of other EU countries, including Italy. The DGOJ announced that both gambling categories will be approved in the coming months after a period of public consultation as to the implementation of relevant regulation and approval by the Ministry of Finance. While no specific dates have been given, the regulation of online betting exchanges is expected to precede that of online slots.
