Client alert: new U.S. sanctions on Iran
The United States has enacted a new round of sanctions on Iran targeting non-U.S. companies that are conducting business with Iran related to shipping, shipbuilding, insurance, and metals. On 2 January 2013, U.S. President Obama signed into law the Iran Freedom and Counter-Proliferation Act of 2012. The Act expands the types of transactions that can subject a non-U.S. company to penalties.
