Law firms see red for Comic Relief

Treasure hunts, cake sales and dress down days are just some of the efforts that City firms have made to contribute to Red Nose Day.

Staff at magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer paid to be serenaded by classically-trained soprano duet Scarlet Divas while munching on sweets treats from their cupcake sale. Meanwhile, trainees at Herbert Smith are holding a cupcake sale.

Across town a group of Addleshaw Goddard employees were running around the City taking part in a treasure hunt organised by client Sainsbury’s in a bid to raise cash for the charity.

Addleshaws trainee solicitor Roxan Strommer said: “It’s great taking part in something like this with a cross section of the firm as well as your clients. I’m going to be wearing my red nose antlers especially for the event.”

Dress-in-red days were popular at firms such as Freshfields and Pinsent Masons where staff made a donation to wear their scarlet hued garments to work.

College of Law’s (CoL) York branch saw the girls’ netball team challenge the boys’ rugby team to a netball match. Let’s just hope the task didn’t include netball skirts for the lads.

Meanwhile, students at CoL in Guildford had a red theme from the neck up with a Red Head day where people had to wear colorful headgear, blusher and earrings as well as the obligatory red nose.

Red Nose Day is organised by the charity Comic Relief, which aims to raise money to alleviate poverty in both Africa and the UK.
