US law firms are throwing their weight behind Democratic candidate John Kerry by contributing over a quarter of a million dollars to the presidential challenger’s campaign funds.
Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom has emerged as the top contributor to Kerry’s campaign, giving $105,650.
Of Kerry’s top ten fund-raiders, four are law firms including Piper Rudnick which has given $77,050, Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo that has donated $72,050 and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld which has stumped up $45,550.
The strong showing from the legal community is in stark contrast to President George W. Bush’s top ten donors which consists mainly of investment banks with Merrill Lynch topping the list with a $458,204 contribution.
