Latham & Watkins is hiring a new partner for its West Coast emerging technology company practice.
The firm is taking on Craig Andrews as a partner in its San Diego office from telecoms company AirFiber. Andrews has been vice president for business development and general counsel there since the beginning of last year, before which he was a partner at San Francisco's Brobeck Phleger & Harrison. He will join Lathams' corporate department and will specialise in representing high-tech start-up companies and venture capitalists. The firm's San Diego office is highly technology-focused, with recent deals including acting for MP3.com in its $372m (£253.5m) acquisition by Vivendi Universal, representing National Semiconductor in its acquisition of InnoComm, and advising Zhone Technologies on its buyout of Nortel Networks' AccessNode and Universal Edge 9,000 product lines.
