Latham & Watkins has significantly bolstered its antitrust capabilities in the United States following the lateral hire of four partners from antitrust, litigation and IP specialists Howrey.
Margaret "Peggy" Zwisler, a former head of the antitrust litigation practice at Howrey, joins Latham as a partner in the firm’s Washington DC office, along with fellow antitrust litigators William Sherman and Eric McCarthy.
Sherman and McCarthy are also joining as partners, as is Charles Samel who will practice from Los Angeles.
Zwisler, Sherman and McCarthy’s appointments double Latham’s antitrust team in Washington to six partners, while also bolstering the firm-wide practice group to 22 partners and of counsel.
The appointments follow a spate of hires at Latham globally, including the appointment of Robert Melson in Tokyo, Steven Stokdyk in Los Angeles and Matthew Brill.
Brill joins as a partner in the firm’s communication practice group in Washington from the Federal Communications Commission where he served as senior legal adviser.
Melson joins as of counsel in Latham’s Tokyo-based finance team from White & Case, while Stokdyk joins as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles corporate department. He was formerly a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell also in LA.
