Latham & Watkins is following aggressive expansion with the largest partnership class in the firm’s history.
On 1 January 2005, 31 new lawyers will be promoted to the partnership, comprising 29 associates and two counsel. They represent all five of the firm’s departments and 12 offices across the US, Europe and Asia.
Most of the promotions are in the US, where 24 associates and two counsel will be promoted. The litigation, finance and corporate departments will also receive the most promotions, with 28 occurring within these practice areas.
Two associates will receive promotion in London: corporate finance and capital markets specialist Jacques McChesney and corporate finance and securities law specialist Jocelyn Seitzman. Two associates will also be promoted in Hamburg and one in Singapore.
The promotions follow a period of sustained expansion for Latham, which most recently saw the firm coax Parisian corporate rainmaker Thomas Forschbach away from Ashurst.
