WorldCom investigator William Baker to join Washington office
Latham and Watkinss Washington office is continuing its high profile securities litigation recruitment drive after appointing a former member of the Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) Division of Enforcement. William Baker, the former associate director at the division, was with the SEC for 15 years. He is due to join the firm on 18 February. Among the many cases Baker was involved in, the most recent saw the lawyer spearheading the investigation into WorldCom, the telecoms group that last year admitted to over-inflating its financials. Baker will join a swathe of recent arrivals at Lathams Washington securities litigation team, including David Brodsky, the former general counsel for the Americas at Credit Suisse First Boston who joined the firm last year.
