PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) associated law firm Landwell has rebranded in an effort to ally itself more closely with the Big Four accountant.
From 1 July Landwell has rebranded as PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal. Senior partner Leon Flavell said the Landwell brand meant that the relationship between law firm and accountancy practice was not clear to the external market.
In a statement announcing the rebrand, Flavell said the move would help make it clear that PwC clients had access to legal services.
Landwell was established six years ago and has weathered turbulent times for accountancy-tied firms. KPMG’s legal arm, KLegal, was disbanded in 2003 and Arthur Andersen, and its associated law firm Andersen Legal, collapsed after the Enron scandal.
But multi-disciplinary practices look set to become an easier option for lawyers and accountants with the draft Legal Services Bill, currently being scrutinised by a Parliamentary committee.
