Kurt Geiger has appointed Iolanda Tursi to head its legal department after the luxury shoe retailer’s former general counsel left to join the pharmaceuticals sector.
Tursi worked previously as associate general counsel for the Gucci Group and was most recently a member of Burberry’s legal team.
Tursi has replaced Kurt Geiger’s former general counsel Suzanne Smith, who after only one year at the company left to join global biotechnology corporation Genzyme (The Lawyer,15 June).
Smith joined US company Genzyme last month as legal director for the UK and Ireland, a role that was created after the biotech company headhunted her.
Following a secondary buyout backed by Graphite Capital in 2008, Kurt Geiger has opened a franchise of stores across the Middle East and throughout the UK.
Kurt Geiger is one of Europe’s largest retailers of Gucci and Prada and has strong relationships with brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin.
