Kurt Geiger counsel steps back into pharma

Kurt Geiger general counsel Suzanne Smith is to leave the company to return to the pharmaceuticals sector, joining global biotechnology corporation Genzyme.

Smith joined Kurt Geiger a year ago from pharma company Phoqus Pharmaceuticals, where she was general counsel. She joined Phoqus in February 2005 and was appointed company secretary in January 2007.

Smith will join US company Genzyme later this year as legal director for the UK and Ireland, a role that has been created for her. The biotechnology company headhunted her for the position.

It develops products and services that focus on rare inherited disorders, including kidney disease, orthopaedics, cancer, transplant and immune disease, as well as diagnostic testing.

Kurt Geiger is currently looking for a replacement.
