South African firm Sonnenberg Hoffman & Galombik has taken another KPMG international tax partner, following the appointment of 14 KPMG lawyers at the end of September
The team had been at KPMG for only a few months, arriving from Andersen following the Enron scandal. Ana-Celia Mendes will be based in the firm's Joh-annesburg office, which was launched at the beginning of the year. The appointment takes the number of lawyers in the office to 16, and the firm is on the hunt for further lawyers. Sonnenberg's managing partner Deon De Clerk said: "It's growing as quickly as we can get good people." The firm aims to build the office to a size similar to that of its head office in Cape Town, which currently houses 94 lawyers.
