Koc and bull

Like Tulkinghorn, some are blessed with names which positively roll off the tongue and improve each time one says or writes them down. Others are not.

One of Tulkinghorn’s scribes almost spat coffee and toast all over his typewriter when he received notification of a deal involving Turkish company Koc Holding. Company names like that come along once in a lifetime and Tulkinghorn applauds the brave corporate decision to turn Koc into a holding company for other assets.

Rather than spending the day doing what the company name suggests, the boys over at Koc Holding have been busy buying a slice of a Turkish supermarket chain from private equity house BC Partners – which selected as its advisers, ahem, Dickson Minto.
