K&L Gates hires McDermott competition partner for London office

K&L Gates has hired the founder of McDermott Will & Emery’s competition practice Scott Megregian as a partner in its London office.

Megregian is the third competition partner to leave McDermott this week, following the exits of sports specialist Alasdair Bell and Davina Garrod.

Megregian was a partner at McDermott for more than 12 years. His practice focuses particularly on clients in the mining and metals sector.

Tony Griffiths, the administrative partner of K&L Gates’ London office, said his arrival would strengthen the firm’s competition and regulatory practices.

“His dual qualifications in the UK and jurisdictions in the US will assist the continuing integration of K&L Gates’ global policy and regulatory capabilities,” he said.

McDermott’s competition practice is headed by Clive Stanbrook QC in Brussels.

This week former partners Bell and Garrod quit the firm for football governing body UEFA and Bingham McCutchen respectiviely.

The firm could not be reached for comment.
