Kirkland & Ellis has made up four partners in London as part of a round that saw 62 promotions worldwide.
Kon Asimacopoulos has been promoted within the London restructuring practice while the banking and finance practice has seen the promotion of Phillip Crump. Anu Balasubramanian and James MacArthur have been made up in the corporate department.
Asimacopoulos joined Kirkland from Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft in 2005 having previously worked for Australian firm Gilbert & Tobin in Sydney. His practice focuses on advising on international financial restructuring, insolvency and complex dispute resolution matters.
Crump, who joined Kirkland’s London office from New Zealand firm Russell McVeagh last year, specialises in bank finance, in particular acquisition finance. His work is both cross-border and domestic in nature and includes senior, mezzanine and second lien facilities, refinancing, debt restructuring, public-to-private acquisitions and recapitalisations.
Balasubramanian joined from Ashurst in 2005. Her practise is focused on M&A, leveraged buyouts and equity issuances.
MacArthur, who began his career at Herbert Smith before a spell at White & Case between 2002 and 2006, works mainly on M&A, private equity and investment fund deals.
The majority of Kirkland’s promotions, which include several transfers from of counsel to partner, have taken place across the firm’s US offices. One corporate partner each has also been made up in the firm’s Hong Kong and Munich offices.
