Kirkland gains three City partners in latest promotions round

Kirkland & Ellis has added three to its London-based partnership in its latest round of promotions.

The US firm has made up corporate lawyers Stephanie Biggs and Christian Iwasko and restructuring lawyer Graham Lane.

In total Kirkland promoted 51 to partner, the majority of whom are across the firm’s US offices.

Promotions at the US firm are down on last year. In October 2008 The Lawyer reported on Kirkland making up a total of 67 partner across its network, with London gaining five (13 October 2008).

The tax and corporate practices received one new partner apiece last year, while private funds received three.

Last year partner promotions were down at US firms as the credit crisis caused a reduction in work flow.

In January this year The Lawyer reported on Milbank Tweed Hadley McCloy, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Weil Gotshal & Manges all adding fewer people to their partnerships than in previous years (5 January 2009).
