US firm Kirkland & Ellis has made up five partners in London this year as part of a global round that saw 67 promoted.
Of the five partner promotions, four are women, with Sophie Allen entering the partnership in the tax practice, while Kate Downey, Jennifer Kapusniak and Kate Simpson have been promoted in private funds.
The fifth partner to be made up is Pierfrancesco Carbone, who is part of the corporate practice.
Kirkland London office head Jim Learner was upbeat about the promotions. “I think it just reflects the fact that we continue to grow in London and a number of people who’ve worked up the ranks here have now had the opportunity to be admitted,” he said. “We’re pretty excited.”
There ;are ;currently around 80 lawyers based in Kirkland’s London office – equivalent to 6 per cent of the global headcount.
