Kings head becomes law commissioner

The Law Commission has appointed Kings Chambers chief Frances ­Patterson QC as a law commissioner.

The commission is an independent body responsible for reviewing the law. ­Patterson, a deputy High Court judge, was appointed by Justice Secretary Jack Straw. She begins a five-year term today (4 ­January). The set will appoint her successor this week.
