Colin Crawford of Kings Chambers has advised Harrogate Borough Council throughout the process of planning the Tour de France and obtaining an order under the Localism Act 2011.
Legal obstacles to allowing the planned start of the Tour de France in Yorkshire to take place in July have been resolved by the passing of the Harrogate Stray Act 1985 (Tour de France) Order 2014.
This is the first order to be made under the provisions of the Localism Act 2011, allowing Harrogate Borough Council to use the general power of competence.
Crawford practises in all aspects of public law, specialising particularly in local government law, planning, environment and judicial review.
Since joining Chambers after an academic career, he has developed an extensive practice advising on all aspects of local authority law, including powers, constitutional matters, reorganisation, standards and probity, ombudsmen, finance, judicial review, trading, best value, and procurement.
