Kilpatrick Stockton corporate partner Vishvas Kanji has become the first to defect from the US firm's ailing London office since its plans to downsize were revealed.
Kanji has left the Atlanta-based firm's London office for Mishcon de Reya's corporate practice.
He is the first partner to defect from Kilpatrick since London managing partner Gerald Jeutter informed staff last month that the office was being significantly downsized and refocused on the firm's existing US client base.
As part of the shake-up, the majority of the London office's staff, including the projects, commercial property and international business teams, have entered redundancy negotiations with the executive com- mittee.
Arbitration partner Per Runeland has since left for SJ Berwin, but it is understood that his departure had been decided prior to the restructuring.
Kanji's move will reunite him with former Kilpatrick colleagues Nick Davis and Susan Breen, who made a similar move last November.
