Kilpatrick Stockton has bolstered its New York office with the hire of three partners. The recruits coincide with the conclusion of Kilpatrick’s dramatic downsizing of its London presence.
Lisa Pearson and Georges Nahitchevansky join the firm’s New York intellectual property (IP) practice as partners from local copyright and trademark law boutique Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu.
Joseph Peterson also joins the IP team as a partner. He was previously of counsel in the New York office of Salans.
The hires bolster Kilpatrick’s New York office, which was launched just over a year ago, to four partners and two associates.
The additions coincide with the firm's move to permanent office space in midtown Manhattan, subleased from Clifford Chance, which can accommodate between 25 and 30 lawyers.
The Atlanta-headquartered firm has been targeting IP, international arbitration and dispute resolution, and international labour and employment as part of its international strategy.
As part of this, the firm has slashed its London-based projects, commercial property and international business practice groups.
All of the London office's support staff, except for one catering employee, have been let go. Most of the partners have also left ahead of the 31 December deadline for finalising the downscaling.
