Kennedys’ year-end turnover up by a third

It is the second consecutive year of strong growth for the firm, which last year reported turnover of £67.3m, up 30.7 per cent from £51.5m at the 2007-08 year-end.

The firm’s UK offices contributed the largest proportion of turnover at £70.75m. London generated £57.5m, up 32 per cent on last year, and the firm’s regional offices contributed £13.25m, up 38 per cent on the previous year.

The firm’s international network saw turnover rise 23 per cent to £17.5m from £14.2m a year earlier.

Chief executive Guy Stobart commented: “These financial results and the firm’s performance more generally in 2009-10 are ­testimony to the confidence our clients place in us.

“It’s particularly gratifying to see our client relationships develop around the world.”

Kennedys has invested heavily in the growth of its domestic network during the last financial year. This included the hire of eight partners and 70 staff from Halliwells to launch a base in Sheffield.

Earlier this month, Kennedys informed lawyers it would be paying bonuses because of the strong year-end after telling lawyers last year that they would no longer receive the package.
