Kennedys has endorsed the reelection of senior partner Nick Thomas to a fourth consecutive term at the helm after he stood unopposed.
Thomas, who was first elected as senior partner in 1996, is perceived to be a central driving force of the firm’s international growth strategy.
The latest expansion came in South America when the firm forged an alliance with Brazilian firmTorres Marcellino & Associados (TM Law) while expanding its network of associated offices to include Chilean firm Acuña & Cia and Mexico’s Solis Marin (6 June 2011).
This followed a merger with Kennedys’ Ireland associate firm O’Hare O’Connor Walshe in June 2011 (1 June 2011) and its Portugal-based alliance firm Almeida & Athayde in March (2 March 2011).
Back in 2008 Thomas foresaw rapid consolidation across the legal insurance sector with in-house counsel significantly reducing the amount of work they outsource (22 September 2008). This led to the firm’s decision to grow rapidly in the domestic market and prompted rivals to look again at their models.
