The presence of associate Sean Keaton in the Hot 100 illustrates the contrasting fortunes of two technology teams.
Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy acquired Clifford Chance’s most senior technology associate when it signed Keaton in October. The move was symbolic: after a string of partner exits from Clifford Chance’s technology group, Keaton’s departure showed that the next generation was not happy either.
Keaton joined Milbank with one of his junior colleagues, seduced by the challenge of working with former Allen & Overy star Lawrence Jacobs as he builds a UK outsourcing practice to work with an established team in the US.
Keaton is definitely one to watch. He had his own client base at Clifford Chance, some of which has transferred with him. He should provide a streetwise foil to the cerebral approach of Jacobs as they assault the UK outsourcing market.
