Katten Muchin Rosenman has become the latest US law firm to announce layoffs.
Twenty-one associates and counsel across the firm have been made redundant in a move is designed to "improve efficiency", a Katten statement said.
It is not yet clear which practice groups have been affected.
The statement released by the firm yesterday (16 October) said: “This measure was taken to further improve the firm's efficiency, to allow for the continued growth of its associates and to ensure the firm's long-term success.”
The statement described the firm’s performance as "strong" despite the downturn in the economy.
The move follows just days after Clifford Chance laying off a total of 20 associates in its New York and Washington DC litigation and dispute resolution practice (TheLawyer.com, 14 October)
