The New York office of Katten Muchin & Rosenman has hired the former managing partner of the New York office of US firm McCarter & English.
Steve Eckhaus, a partner specialising in executive compensation, is best known for advising high-ranking individuals in the financial services sector on a range of matters.
He has a 30-year track record advising high-profile clients such as the president of the New York Stock Exchange, the global head of M&A of Lehman Brothers and the CEO of Credit Suisse.
Eckhaus, who started at Katten last week, said it was his new firm’s financial services expertise in particular that attracted him.
“Katten has outstanding practices in financial services and real estate,” Eckhaus said.
“I believe I can service my clients more appropriately, and offer them a greater range of services by being here.”
Eckhaus added that Katten’s international coverage, in the shape of its affiliated London office was also a key attraction. He said he was planning to meet with lawyers from Katten’s London office later this week to discuss how his practice could benefit from working with the firm’s lawyers in the UK.
