Judges join the advertising circuit

Advertisements for positions as judges on the Western, Wales and Chester, and North Eastern circuits will appear for the first time this week. The new advertising procedure comes as part of a move by the Lord Chancellor to open judicial appointments to a wider range of candidates. The adverts will call for barristers and solicitors with at least 10 years advocacy experience, and shortlisted candidates will be quizzed by a three-member panel, including a lay member, a judge and a Lord Chancellor's Department official.
