JPMorgan lawyer fills legal role at Schroders

Schroders Asset Management has ended its eight-month search for a head of legal for its products with the hire of Christian Cano from
JPMorgan Fleming Asset Management.

Cano will report to Schroders’ group general counsel Howard Trust alongside head of corporate legal services Sandie Okoro.

Okoro said: “It’s great to have Christian on board - he’ll be a real asset.”

Cano’s recruitment tops a year of restructuring within Schroders’ legal function. Last year, Trust embarked on a wide-ranging panel review as well as rejigging the internal legal capability.

In April 2004, the legal department, which was spread among the various business groups, was centralised and responsibilities were split into two main areas: corporate services, dealing with Schroders’ own legal requirements, and products, focusing on funds structuring.
