Jones Day has hired former legacy Lovells restructuring partner Matthew French from Nomura, where he held a senior M&A role.
French joins the US firm on 1 March from the investment bank, where he was managing director for global M&A and head of restructuring for Europe, the Middle East and Asia (EMEA).
He initially quit Lovells - now Hogan Lovells - in 2008, joining Swiss bank UBS as EMEA head of restructuring (24 March 2008).
He then moved to Nomura in 2009 as co-head of restructuring, based in London.
French said in a statement: “I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues here at Jones Day on all manner of distressed transactions.”
