Jones Day has strengthened its Paris offering with the hire of Norton Rose’s French corporate finance head, Hervé Castelnau.
Castelnau joins the US firm with three other lawyers. The team has a particular focus on TMT, agriculture, luxury goods and the motor industry in both Europe and Africa.
Silvain Fock-Yee and Thibaut Kazemi both join Jones Day as counsel, while Alice Nepa becomes an associate at the US firm.
Jones Day’s Paris managing partner Sophie Hagège said the hires fitted in with the firm’s growth strategy for Paris. In particular, Hagège said the appointments would enable Jones Day to build a high-quality TMT practice.
So far this year Norton Rose has been one of the more acquisitive firms in Paris, picking up IP partner Marc d’Haultfoeuille from DLA Piper, corporate finance partner Stéphane Sabatier from Willkie Farr & Gallagher, employment partner Laure Joncour from Simmons & Simmons and corporate partner Jon Harry from Hogan Lovells.
Castelnau’s arrival is the first lateral by Jones Day in Paris in 2011. Almost 70 lateral hires have been announced in the French capital since January 2011, mainly seeing partners moving between US and UK firms.
