US firm Jones Day has expanded its trade practice in Brussels with the hire of Van Bael & Bellis partner Renato Antonini.
Antonini, previously a partner at the domestic firm, will lead Jones Day’s Brussels international trade practice. He becomes the 12th partner in the office and joins the firm’s global government regulation team, comprising over 70 lawyers worldwide.
His experience covers both EU and World Trade Organisation trade law as well as competition and customs law.
Antonini’s hire continues the trend for US firms to bulk up in Brussels, particularly in trade law (13 February 2012).
He joined Van Bael & Bellis as an associate in 2000 before being made up to partner two years ago. Antonini is dual qualified in Italian and Belgian law.
