Joel Kordan
Joel Kordan is a development and regeneration specialist, bringing a wealth of expertise in acting for the public and private sector alike and, often, acting for both on joint ventures of all types including local asset-backed vehicles (LABVs).

He acts for a number of local and public authorities. For example, he led the successful pitch and is client partner for Europe’s largest local authority, Birmingham City Council. He is lead partner for University Hospital Birmingham retained on the disposal of the large Selly Oak Hospital site and also acts for a number of automotive multinationals on their major occupier requirements.
Kordan also acts for many developers across the Country, national and multinational corporate occupiers and property owners and has specific automotive, hotel and logistics expertise.
He also has a focus on London development-led work.
Kordan’s recent experience includes:
- Acting for a joint venture development partner on the 5.5-million-square-foot, 400-acre Rossington inland port rail freight distribution scheme; and
- Acting for the successful private sector development partner on a number of LABVs including PxP Midlands, a multi-property joint venture with Advantage West Midlands and a separate LABV with three public sectors partners on Daresbury Science Park, Liverpool.
Kordan founded the Birmingham office in 2003 and by the time he stood down as office head in 2011 it had become the firm’s largest commercial office with more than 175 personnel covering all the main commercial disciplines. He is named as a leader in his field in the 2011 editions of Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.
