JMW head of media Charlotte Harris will join Mishcon de Reya next month, as the West End firm builds its four-partner media team.
Harris, named as one of The Lawyer’s Hot 100 legal professionals for 2011, made partner at the Manchester firm in 2009 and has since been involved in several high-profile matters including the News of the World phone-hacking case, where she acted for Max Clifford.
James Libson, head of the firm’s standalone business Mishcon Private, said: “Charlotte has a great book of business, great contacts and a cutting-edge knowledge of important issues.”
Harris added: “JMW has been supportive but my client base is in London and I wanted to find a place where I could develop the practice I’ve built up.”
She was recently hired by Shrien Dewani to handle press allegations against him following the murder of his wife in South Africa.
