The Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society (JLD) has launched elections for a new executive committee.
It is understood that the majority of the current committee will be standing down to follow new opportunities though some will stand to run for another term.
Current JLD president Kat Gibson, who is an in-house lawyer at Nortel, said: We will get an entirely new executive committee. There are loads of campaign initiatives at the moment and new ideas that we would be passing over to the new executive committee.
Nominations are open to the entire membership of over 70,000 students, trainees and solicitors of up-to five years post qualification experience (PQE).
Candidates should be supported by two other junior lawyers and include a 500 word election statement.
The voting will be a closed process carried out by the JLD national committee that is made up of local group representatives.
Nominations are now open and will close on 20 June, with the results being announced at the JLD annual conference on 5 July.
