The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
US litigation powerhouse Jenner & Block opens in New York today (7 November) as the firm moves to broaden its national base.
It marks the fourth office for the Chicago-based firm, which also has bases in Dallas and Washington DC.
Managing partner Greg Gallopoulos told The Lawyer that the move to New York was a key component of the firm's strategic plan. He said the firm was "not about to open offices all over the countryside", but was instead interested in "maintaining a national reach practice-wise, if not geographically".
The office is "opening small", he said, and will have 15 lawyers in the first month.
"We want to remain one firm and all our offices will be integrated as a whole," said Gallopoulos, who became managing partner at the beginning of the year. "It's going to be attorneys from our Washington and Chicago offices and a few native New Yorkers to form the office.
"We want to continue to build on our traditional strength of litigation. We've traditionally had a practice of national scope and reach and we intend to continue that."
The firm does not have any offices outside the US and Gallopoulos said there were no plans to expand internationally. He said the firm's strategy was to forsake fast growth in favour of maintaining its reputation for high-quality advice.
"The single most important thing for us is to maintain our quality, and we have an absolutely ruthless focus on that," he said.
