BARRISTER Andrew Jackson has left 10 King's Bench Walk to join the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
As a senior government lawyer, he will act as a case controller or investigative law-yer, or a combination of both.
Jackson says of his move: "I had an exclusively criminal practice both prosecuting and defending. Latterly, I dealt with the more serious type of case - murder, large frauds, drugs, armed robbery. I joined the SFO to further my career in the area which interests me most."
Jackson did his pupillage with Ann Goddard QC and Michael West QC. He then joined the common law chambers at 10 King's Bench Walk, where he specialised in a criminal law practice for six years.
He is a member of the South Eastern Circuit and the Criminal Bar Association.
Jackson's former head of chambers, Ronald Thwaites QC, says: "Life at the Bar is based on shifting sands - the criminal Bar tends to have criminal cases, not practices.
"It is difficult to be at the Bar at this uncertain time. There has never been a more difficult time for barristers, with solicitors encroaching more on their practice.
"Andrew showed considerable promise at the Bar, but decided that his future lay in prosecuting, which I am sure will provide stimulating work."
