Earlier this year The Lawyer revealed that the US firm was overhauling its management structure to create regional and practice group divisions after management consultant McKinsey & Co completed a review of the firm's international strategy (27 October).
In London employment partner Oliver Brettle (pictured) will replace senior partner Peter Finlay and will be given the new title of executive partner.
The firm will now be managed under key regional jurisdictions including the Americas, Asia and Europe and the Middle East and Africa. Each group has a range of practice group heads leading the new management structure.
The new regional structure is designed to promote greater global unity within practice areas rather than seeing offices operate as independent fiefdoms.
New York-based corporate partner Neal Grenley will take up the post of executive partner for the office while David Koschik is to chair the Americas operations committee.
White & Case's new management structure comes at a time of turbulence for the firm. Last month The Lawyer reported on the firm laying off 70 associates and 90 support staff from its US offices (17 November).

seems to me that the partners at white & case are merely shifting the chairs on the titanic . . . they already threw the women and children (associates and support staff) off the sinking ship . . .
