BLG scoops lead role in Menezes inquiry
Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) has scooped the lead role as the solicitors to the inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, the Brazilian man shot dead at Stockwell tube station in 2005.

The Inner London South District Coroner's Court appointed BLG after a competitive tender. Partners David Knapp and John Goodman will lead the BLG team, reporting to coroner Sir Michael Wright. The inquest will start in September and last for three months.

Nicholas Hilliard QC of 6 King's Bench Walk is also advising the coroner, while Kingsley Napsley is acting for the Metropolitan Commander in charge of the operation that led to Menezes' death. Michael Mansfield QC of Tooks Chambers is representing the Menezes family.

Menezes was shot in London on 22 July 2005 after police mistook him for a suicide bomber.
