Italian firm Legance is moving into London, unveiling plans to open a City office next year following the hire of a partner from Gianni Origoni Grippo Cappelli & Partners.
Legance is the third Continental European firm to announce a London launch this year. In January Germany’s Luther announced its plans to open in London (17 January 2012). Irish firm William Fry followed suit by relaunching its City office in the summer (29 August 2012).
The Italian firm has hired Gianni Origoni partner Marco Gubitosi to head the new operation and will also relocate other lawyers to the City when the office formally launches in the new year.
Corporate partner Gubitosi joined Gianni Origoni in 2008 (10 March 2008), following the break-off of almost 100 partners from Gianni Origoni to launch Legance.
Legance will focus primarily on corporate finance, banking and capital markets in London, advising on Italian law issues.
“The new office will bring us closer to our clients at a time when we are seeing growing interest from international investors and an upswing in cross-border activity in which Italian companies are involved,” said Legance managing partner Giovanni Nardulli in a statement.
