The dissolution, which according to Italian media reports was voted for by partners at a recent emergency meeting, follows the recent departure of partner Roberto Cappelli to Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners with a team of 10 associates (8 November 2011).

A spokesperson for Grimaldi confirmed the dissolution. Managing partner Vittorio Grimaldi did not return calls for comment.

Grimaldi e Associati was one of Italy’s larger independent firms, with 17 partners and an estimated 2010 turnover of €27m (£22.8m), according to The Lawyer European 100.

The firm was set up in 2002 after an acrimonious split from association partner Clifford Chance, with Vittorio Grimaldi, four partners and a group of 26 lawyers defecting from the magic circle firm.
